Robert Enke RIP

Just been watching the memorial service for Robert Enke that' was shown on German TV. There wasn't a dry eye in the house and not in my flat either.

I don't quite know what to make of it all. On the one hand the Hannover stadium was packed with people there to pay their respects and grieve. On the other side Enke was consumed by what those same people and his country would think if he revealed his illness, depression. I hope if anything comes from this tradgey then the veil of mystery from depression is lifted and people can change their views, even just a little bit.
I wonder if some of the tears were of guilt of people who wished that they could think differently about mental illness.

There are campaigns in England such as Time to Change http://www.time-to-change.org.uk and Rethink http://www.rethink.org who are trying to show the public that people with mental illness aren't scary knife welding loons.

If mental illness wasn't such a taboo subject in nearly every culture then people, like me and others who suffer from depression, could be more open.

Blah de blah

Started watching Harper's Island. Seen the first two episodes, got another two to watch which were shown last night. Hopefully will get through them all before I go away.
It seems to be spot the former/current Supernatural actor. Spotted Bobby, Ruby(blondie), Pride from Seven deadly sins (or whatever it as called) and Ron (from the bank robbery ep).

So glad that Supernatural started up again, was getting withdrawl symptoms.

Hoping that my new place has decent broadband so I can keep up with all the US TV shows.

Quick thoughts...

Is anyone else finding that megaupload isn't working? Trying to download the panels from Vancouver at [info]agt_spooky and it ain't working.

Also HArper's Island is being advertised as being shown on BBC3 at some point. Is it worth a watch?

Is it time for season 5 yet?!!!

Is it time yet?

Is it time for Supernatural to start again?

The football season has started so have something to occupy me on a Saturday but need something for my Friday mornings (when I can download the ep)

Jeff Stelling is back doing Soccer Saturday. Just started reading his book, 'Jelleyman's Thrown a Wobbly'. Love that show!

Might occupy myself with updating my icons...

F13 DVD is on its Way!

Friday 13th DVD is winging it's way to me, not particulary fast as chose the free delivery!

Livejournal looks like it's behaving itself, can actually open pages without having to sit there for 5 minutes.

Not a lot else going on. Watching season 2 on ITV, nice to see it on a big widescreen TV.

Hoping to watch Roddick v Isner now if I can find a stream or it's on Sky Sports 2.

Working Abroad

Is it wrong that when I was told that I'll be working abroad for 6 months one of my first concerns was "Is there going to be broadband so that I can keep up to date with all the US TV shows I watch?"
